What is CBDP and what are its effects?

Cannabidiophenol (CBDP) is a rare phytocannabinoid found naturally in minute amounts in the cannabis plant. It was first identified in 2019 by an Italian research team who also discovered the cannabinoid THCP. Both cannabinoids have been found in different varieties of medicinal cannabis.

CBDP is synthesised in the laboratory from a CBD isolate – the purest form of cannabidiol (CBD), containing 96-100% cannabidiol and zero THC (sometimes terpenes and terpenoids may also be present in the isolate).

CBDP is the heptyl homologue of CBD – it belongs to the same group of chemical compounds with similar structure and properties. The main difference lies in the length of the side chain (CBD has a 5-membered alkyl chain, CBDP a 7-membered side chain).

The cannabinoid CBDP, like CBD, has a low affinity for CB1 and CB2 receptors in the endocannabinoid system. CBDP has no psychoactive effects.

It is believed to have anti-inflammatory, analgesic and neuroprotective properties. It appears promising in the fight against cancer cells and may also enhance the efficacy of some existing anticancer drugs.

Users report that CBDP is relaxing, relieves anxiety and, when combined with CBN, induces significant relaxation, drowsiness and contributes to deeper sleep
